Walter F. George Reservoir is a man-made lake situated on the Chattahoochee River, on the border of Alabama and Georgia. It covers an area of approximately 45,000 acres and has a maximum depth of 138 feet. The lake is named after former U.S. Senator Walter F. George. It provides water for power production, flood control, and recreation. The lake is a popular spot for fishing, boating, and swimming. The lake is also home to a variety of wildlife, including bald eagles, ospreys, and deer. The lake is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
